The Promise Foundation partnered with UNICEF (office for Tamil Nadu & Kerala) and Samagra Shiksha, Government of Tamil Nadu to build capacity for the delivery of career guidance services to high school students from economically disadvantaged homes in Tamil Nadu. The Promise Foundation’s Jiva Approach to Career Guidance and Livelihood Planning formed the core of this engagement.
The existing Jiva Kit was reviewed and adapted for Tamilnadu. We have developed a complete Jiva Kit in Tamil, along with comprehensive counsellor training material. Please click for reports pertaining to the project.
Career Guidance at the Secondary Education Stage in Tamil Nadu: Teacher Training Programme
Development of Teacher Training Material for Tamilnadu
A self-learning course on career guidance was developed for teachers. The course is divided into two parts:
- Conceptual Foundations covering some of the basic theoretical concepts of career guidance
- Core Skills providing student activities and worksheets for career guidance.
The material comprises detailed notes and comprehensive videos that demonstrate how to use the Tamil Jiva Kit in the classroom.
