interests:<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">Interests can change<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p>Interest profiles are likely to go through great <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">variations<\/span> upto around the age of 16 to 18 years.\u00a0 It is only when the person is closer to adulthood, that interests are likely to be more stable.\u00a0 The strength of an interest is closely related to:<\/p><ul><li>personal <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">experiences<\/span> with an activity<\/li><li>the <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">belief<\/span> that one can do well at an activity\u00a0<\/li><li>preconceived <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">notions<\/span> held by significant others in the person\u2019s life (e.g. career beliefs) about an activity.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element the individual is drawn toward it and derives enjoyment from it.\u00a0 It <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">does not<\/span> necessarily mean that he\/she is good at that activity.\u00a0 Success in a career is achieved in an environment of intense <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">competition<\/span>.\u00a0 Merely being interested and motivated, however strong this motivation, may not mean that a person can develop a <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">sufficiently high<\/span> level of skill to succeed in the face of competition.\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a self-understanding.\u00a0<\/p><p>Aptitudes reflect a <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">natural ability<\/span> to do something well.\u00a0 They tell us about the person&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">capabilities<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">talents<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Aptitudes are <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">inborn<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">innate<\/span>.\u00a0 They may be seen as <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">physical<\/span> or <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">mental<\/span> capabilities.\u00a0<\/p><p>An aptitude shows the <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">level<\/span> of competence at which a person can excel at a <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">certain kind of task<\/span>.\u00a0 Take for example a student who is given tasks involving drawing and calculating.\u00a0 If this student consistently does better at drawing and finds drawing easier, compared to calculating, we could say that this student has a higher aptitude for drawing than calculating . This does not mean that the person is <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">bad<\/span> at calculating.\u00a0 It means that the person is <span style=\"color: #fc8502;\">better<\/span> at drawing than calculating.
